Heavy Metal must be inherrent for most of us living in the Black Country, with the sounds of machines of industry and hammers shaping molten metal. So Once Bitten had a head start in 1991 when John Hill(bass), Wayne Postin(vocals), the Wieckowski brothers Pete and Chris(guitars), and Mark Billingham(drums) formed a band called" Bad Influence "whilst working at a rolling mills in Cradley Heath. Heavilly influenced by bands such as Kiss, Europe,AC/DC, Sabbath,Judas Priest and Yngwie Malmsteen, they set about composing their own brand of music containing rock riffs, Angus type lead breaks and harmony vocals. The first gig by the band should go down in folklore history as the open air gig was stopped after only 3 songs by the police for being too loud.
When Chris left the band Mark Postin Joined on Guitar and the direction of the band began to change leaning to a heavier sound. It was also decided a name change was in order, because of its infectious music the name Once Bitten was chosen.
A track from the bands first ever Demo recorded at the "Ice House" self titled." Once Bitten "was played on the Friday Rock show on Radio 1.
Shaun Jones replaced Pete on Guitar and the bands sound changed once more as the influences of Dokken and George lynch began to show through.
The Bands second demo recorded " Night Life" was featured on a cd called " up and coming" promoting 16 talented bands from in and arround Stourbridge and the west midlands.
Former "Tantrum" axeman RIchard Page replaces Shaun on Guitar and Tony Brown replaces Mark Billingham on drums. They Band win" Live Band of year 1997 " At the Robin and record "Stand up and be counted" cd.
Original voacalist Wayne Postin leaves the band and is replaced by ex Tantrum/Warning vocalist kerry Taylor.Tony is replaced by Joe Biggs on drums.
After writing new Material the band records the " Crucified " cd at MADHAT STUDIOS the stables of classic Rock band "MAGNUM" and tread the boards once more and support Stanglers front man Hugh Cornwell. The band also play many support and headline gigs arround the midlands with Limehouse Lizzy, Dressed to kill, Simon lees and By Jovi to name a few.
After both Rchard (new band Rannoch)and Kerry (new band Killa-Kangorillaz)leave to play in pastures new, we thought it was the end of the road for Once Bitten, But Mark , Joe and John never say die, recruiting Russ Cooper to guitar, and Michael Hill on bass with John now lead Singer. Going back to their roots they set about writing new material and record "up from the dungeon" cd at MADHAT STUDIOS in 2004.
In 2007 Drummer Joe Biggs Leaves the band to pursue a career with punk rockers Strawberry Blondes. The Band also part company with Mike Hill on Bass as he continues to fight his own demons.
The Band then recruited Tom Smith "Drums" and Mark Johnson "Bass Guitar" To the band. After rehearsing hard for many months with new material, the band recorded their next CD " Nightmares " @ Musoplex Studios. Released may 2008............ BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sadly after one gig the band decided to part company with both members due to their un-reliabilty.
The band are currently auditioning for a new drummer and bass player, so if youve got what it takes drop us a line..............................
