I've been playing for around 7/8 years now (although not very seriously for most of that time), and have been part of a few bands (2 punk bands, 1 folk band, 1 modern sounding indyish type band). My main love in music is experimental/progressive rock. I'm currently song writing for my new band "Thomas Edison and the Blues Men" with the other band member Erdem Bayrac (bass).

Our current style is mostly rock with a strong hint of blues and jazz, with moments of funkynes. The emphasis is on creativity and expression. Its quite experimental but we do still have plans to get signed and hopefully become very successful.

We are looking for a vocalist, preferably with a 'blusesey' voice, preferably male. But if that isn???t you don???t be afraid to get in contact for a jam, it will be interesting to hear people with different style vocals interpret our music and see which direction that leads in. If you can play another instrument, that will be a bonus, and if you can write lyrics (but are also willing to sing other peoples lyrics) that would be a BIG bonus. Preferably with own equipment. We are also looking for a drummer, who has decent: jazz, rock, and blues chops. Backing vocals would be a bonus but is by no means a requirement. Must have own equipment. We have about 12 songs that are near completion (soon to grow) and we would like this batch of songs (i.e. album if someone will pay us to make one!) to retain their current style. But creative input is welcome and encouraged for our future material.

My influences include: King crimson, Jethro Tull, Godspeed you black Emporer!, Van de graff Generator, early Camel, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimmi Hendrix, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, The Edgar Broughton band, Stepenwolf, The Pretty Things, Thin Lizzy...

Erdem shares many of my influences but is also fond of: RHCP, Joy division, The futureheads, and lots of punk bands among others.

I am much more a lead guitarist than a rhythm guitarist, although I can play rhythm. It's probably quite important to mention that I know practically no theory! I pride myself on my creativity and my improvisational skills, which have come from many hours of messing about with the guitar improvising over stuff.

I play a Yamaha RGX 420S through a Laney TT50c (combo). The Yamaha has fairly mellow pick ups so it is much more versatile than it may seem.

Erdem has only been playing for about a year but has good timing and is very creative. He???s improving all the time and is already competent as a performer and more than competent creator of groovy bass lines! He plays a fender P-bass.

Were both 18 years old. We will considerer applicants of all ages. It???s the music that counts! We only mention it here in case any potential applicants are bothered about our age.

If you???re interested please get in contact!
