for me a true reading of amount of plays my mp3 gets. i upload new tracks weekly and the setting resets to 0 not very good if like me you like to see how many people are playing your stuff. now i know thats how it works, it shows how sad people really are when they have scores of over 600 plays. well not sad but more not very productive with there music.

1) To be able to disable email notification of forum posts without disabling email notification of private messages.
2) 'View My Forum Posts' page like they have here on the webcomic list forum] (which just lists threads the user has posted to, not individual posts), for handy reference.
3) AFK mode, so you can leave a browser window open with Musofinder in it and not have it autorefresh all the time, nor appear to be online when you really are not. (Might also reduce load a bit if people used it).
4) Combine multiple email notifications of forum posts into one, so if I post to General Chat then pop to the shop I don't come back to 250 emails notifying me that the thread has turned into a LMAOfest.
5) Option not to automatically subscribe to threads I've posted to.
6) If Latest Muso was the latest muso to add a profile rather than the latest person to sign up, there'd always be something to read when you click on it, rather than as now finding there's hardly ever something, cos they've only just signed up.
7) Cloak option so you don't have to show up in the 'Musos Online' box if you don't want to
8) BBCode syntax check so I stop accidentally posting gibberish instead of actual links to things
9) A wider range of skin options for the site than just the given one, preferably including one with a dark background

I had a suggestion for stopping the crapflooding of the Musos Wanted bit which is probably worthless now I have checked and found that 'Keep Your Wanted Muso Ads At The Top' is actually a built-in extra feature of Gold Membership. However, there are people over-using this to the extent that have become figures of fun in the forums, and I'm not sure that allowing people to do so benefits anyone, not the ad poster, nor the site overall.

FWIW, here's the suggestion:

10) Separate Musicians Wanted into 'Gold' and 'Silver' sections. Allow unlimited crapflooding in the Gold section (so it will be like the whole Musicians Wanted board currently is, and fair enough, people have paid to be Gold Members, let them resubmit the same ad every half-hour until the heat death of the universe.) Meanwhile have some strict set of anti-crapflooding rules in the Silver section, such as allowing only two or three ads per n-hours in the Silver section for some value of n, with a specific ban on constantly resubmitting the same ad. Alternatively, keep a single Muso's Wanted page, but implement crapflooding rules, at risk of losing paying crapflooders, all of whom seem to be Gold Members.

(Bringing some of my suggestions into the 'definitive list')

1) Chat room (will reduce the throw away posts on the BB, yet still allow musos to chat)
2) Vote for musofinder songs. Good way of sharing good tunes and a bit of fun. Only silver/ gold can have songs voted on. Useful to find popular songs.
3) Gold Members forum becomes Silver and Gold Members forum to increase the value of the forum.
4) Threads with multiple pages have page number in message header on the BB like this: Jons thread (page 1,2,3,4......last page). Makes navigation quicker
5) Gold members can choose which of their three songs appears at the bottom of messages (rather than show all three)

A section for lessons online for different instruments. There's a dearth of teachers on here who could contribute to the site as a whole with lessons on theory, articulation, exercises, gig advice articles, all for different instruments. Why not tap them for a new section in one of the 3.0 versions? Dry as you like or as informative as you like, but there seems to be a wasted resource that could easily draw more people to the site. It could also be used as incentive to upgrade membership for some lessons, meaning more revenue for the site as a whole.

1) take some control over behaviour of members, either by removing offensive members from the site or allowing individuals to block contact from other individuals

I've had a couple of encounters I dont wish to repeat and feel bullied because saying anything to or about the individual might start a war and that's not what I'm here for!

I'd be more comfortable and confident using the site if I felt that sort of crap could be avoided.

Thanks!

The same thing that prevents multiple posts straight after each other being installed on the ad bump thing.

Some device for hitting other posters with when they get far too precious.

A note in the 'update MP3' screen that says you can't have some punctuation in the title because it won't upload. Or fix it so you can have them.

Perhaps an Electronic music forum or recording forum for techies and a live muso forum for those that actually do gig.
I'm referring to sound engineering type things for the techie stuff. It's a different branch and there will be those that are more adept and knowledgable in that area.
Just a thought.

Oh and tazers to be used on anyone playing that silly lets get my name on the top of all subjects game

1.) After posting on the forum and clicking on 'return to topic', you are sent to the start of the thread - if you were directed to the last page where your post resides, then that'd be ace.

2.) I believe that you can't currently make a named link to a web address containing punctuation, using the [ url ] type function. For example:

This works
[url=http://www.whatever.com/,.?]This doesn't[/url]

There is also a problem with punctuation in user's song names - perhaps this is a fundamental issue with the whole coding scheme of the site?

Musician Search:
1) Allow multiple select so that I can search for Kazoo player and Washboard player at the same time
2) Range search on skill level, i.e. 'greater than two dots but not a pro' type thing.

This is a musoFINDER site, make it easier to find musos
