It's still just the two of us, but we've been working on getting a bigger sound through the joys of technology. No backing tracks were used in the making of this racket and to the best of our knowledge no animals harmed.
We'd love to know your thoughts. Comments on recording quality would be superfluous as it was a mic in front of two amps. There's a limit to how much editing you can do on that...

Not only that, but this technology mularky to your sound is brilliant, too. Also, I'm feeling that strength in the music now, where your working together as a performing duo is seriously coming together. This stuff is not superficial cool - it *is cool imo; unique - always an exotic oasis of musical colour.
Again - great songwriting; and those cello moments in 'All of Me' - yes please.
You should be up there - thi contemporary music scene needs thi! The time is Striking Poses!
And it's only 8.15am - more coffee. |

Well the big sound is working well, especially the piano in "falling" its a nice song guys, i would second the minor crit on the vocal, for me its too dry and low in the mix, perhaps beef up the vocal stereo width and add some subtle reverb/echo, you may have to lose some volume in the backing track if you increase the vocal gain but a good multiband limiter should sort it out as at the moment the vocals are not prominent or defined enough.Another thing, is this an uncompressed mix? it just sounds like the cello overpowers in places especially in the bass regions. Great arrangements.
Great work guys
All the best

A quick word on the "mix" Basically there isn't one yet lol. It was just a few microphones put in front of a couple of amps. So it just recorded what it heard. These and more tracks will be recorded "properly" over the winter, but will still be recorded as much as possible live.
For those interested I am playing a variax through a vg 99 with one channel an electric guitar sound and the other cosm channel a bass guitar. The midi channel is playing "strings" generated by a korg microsynth. Finally the output from the variax (a 12 string) goes thru a digitech vocalist 4 to generate the vocal harmonies. Finally Deryns electric cello goes thru a line 6 floorpod and a boss looper. Also she plays a Roland Juno g on a few tracks. Now if I could just figure out how to get her to oplay piano and cello at the same time..........cloning maybe!
Thanks again guys
