Hi, first of all I'm new, so - Hi
I'm hoping someone could provide help on recommending the right kind of keyboard to purchase for a beginner. I'd really like to start to learn how to play the keyboards, by learning tunes, and hopefully progressing to producing my own.
I know some keyboard basics such as finding the notes, sharps, flats, etc.

My price range would be around £50-£80 I guess, unless should I pay more for a sufficient keyboard?

Any feedback on this would be appreciated,
thanks
Joe

Hi Joe

I guess for starting out go for a 5 octave keyboard that makes a louder noise the harder you hit the key. You won't need loads of voices (different instruments) but they all seem to come with them.

A built in metronome is required, rhythm patterns are optional but again most keyboards seem to have them.

Mine is a Yamaha, it's fairly low-end but I've had it years and it does just fine to practise on.

Best of luck!

Would recommend the Yamaha PSR E213 keyboard. It has 61 full size keys, 300+ sounds, metronome, General MIDI, XG Lite and an in built learning system. I own one and it's a thoroughly decent beginers keyboard. It doesn't have touch sensitive keys but you'd probably have to pay over £100 for that. I payed £90 from Argos 7 months ago but shop around... I've seen it for £70 online.

Thanks for the feedback, did a pricecheck on PriceRunner and I got around the same price from Amazon for the Yamaha PSR E213.
Seems like the right keyboard for me, thanks for the help think I'll consider purchasing this for my first keyboard.
