I'm looking to get an extension cabb to go with my 2x12 combo and am not sure about the whole question of ohms!
The external speaker outs on the back of my amp are both 4 ohms.
If I get a cab that's 16 ohms is it safe to plug into one of the 4 ohm outputs?
Anyone know about this stuff?

You'll have to have two 16ohm cabs, one into each of the 4ohm output. This is the correct match.
OR, you can have one 8ohm in one 4ohm output. This is a safe mis-match.
Safe mis-match means it works without damage to amp or cab, but the tone may sound a little different to a correct match (maybe better, maybe worse - or just.. different).
Do not use an unsafe match because at best you'll damage the speakers, or, more likely, damage the amp. This is more true with a tube amp.
For further info, check out this manual: http://www.mesaboogie.com/manuals/Nomad%20Manual.pdf page 36 and on. Lovely simple diagrams of what you can and can not connect. The rules are the same regardless the amp brand.
Hope this helps... all info provide in good spirt but I'm not expert!

So in effect I need an 8 or 4 Ohm cab to run out of the 4 Ohm output.
This is in addition to the combo speakers aswell I assume?

The internal speaker is an 8ohm cab, so if you want to use that too you'd either
A) put the 8ohm internal speaker in the 4 ohm output and a 16 ohm cab in the 8 ohm output.
or
B) put the 8ohm internal speaker in the 4 ohm output and a 8 ohm can in the other 4 ohm output
Cheers

This is the response I got (eventually) from Mesa.
You can run a 16ohm cab with the
F100 combo. You will want to run from the 8ohm of the F100 into the
16ohm cab and from the 4ohm of the F100 into the 8ohm internal speaker. |

Although he has a different amp to me. I run a 100 watt amp at 60 watts under a limiter switch to drive the tubes harder.
Maybe if I unleash the beast it'll be the biz?
