Please vote as to whether you think users with an update later than a year should be removed, OR whether users without profiles should be removed.

(or if you have another suggestion to keep content fresh).

Please vote with YES to removing old content, or NO to keep old content in searches, and why.

Yes yes yes. delete people with no profile. or no information at all on their profile. or no update later than a year. I had been trying to put together a band to play my originals some time ago and had been searching for managers too. and the amount of time I wasted bumping into useless profiles was exponential. especially about the managers..I mean what's the point of having an industry profile if all you write about you is "manager". what information di you give me? just another bum/dreamer..pfui!
Musofinder should be something different from the circus that myspace has become, something for professional people. that's my opinion.

Yes certainly get rid of accounts with no profile.

But instead of getting rid of people that haven't updated their profile, get rid of people that haven't logged in. If they haven't changed their profile for a while it's (probably) because their situation hasn't changed. I they haven't logged in then they obviously aren't interested & delete them or at least remove them from the search.

yeah Lamb has the right idea......do it by last login date.....

but then only the free members should get the push....paid members must get the full years subs regardless of whether they havent bothered to login....Why? cos they paid for that privilidge!

I reckon you should remove all free members who havent logged in for 3 months....

Yeah what Lamby and Pete said. I don't see why you should delete profiles which haven't been updated as some users' situations may not change for years (take mufc for example - yes please take him ) They will still use the forums for looking for musicians, gear, promoting gigs, collabs etc.

Makes more sense to me to delete the ones that haven't logged in in say past 6/ 12 months, preferably with some kind of email warning first possibly.

Certainly with a warning email I think.

Lemmy's profile should never be removed, he is one of the most memorable members of the community & removing him sounds like a very bad idea to me.

ok with the idea of sending a warning. and with keeping the gold members even if they haven't updated their profile.

No profile? Access to site denied. No update within 6 months? Remove. So there.

Definately agree that they should be removed if they havnt logged in for some time, would save a lot of time wasting looking through profiles and trying to contact people that have no intention of coming back on the site !

Anyhow my efforts and talents will soon be available for you all to hear and see (once i figure out how to get my music onto this bloody thing!)

No, don't delete anyone. People may be in a band and not actively looking but want to be part of Musofinder. That's okay IMHO.

Instead, supress them from searches. Supress all those who have not logged in for a year.

Do we still have the 'Available' flag to search by? If people haven't logged in for a year, or have not updated their profile for ages could be set to not available... and an email sent to them to let them know.

Would be good to allow users to exclude empty profiles from their search results.

I don't agree. Keeping everybody on board makes the site cumbersome and redundant with profiles of people who just want to "hang around". what's the point of registering on a site called "musofinder" if you don't want to look for musos or be an active part in the community?
you also have to take into account how more difficult it migt be to program the site so that people who haven't logged in are excluded from the search.

Yes to delete - but it has to include gold memebers too. Why should they be exempt - oh apart form the fact they pay more!

...and on the 7th day he looked saw it wasn't too good and he said - I'm knackered - that will have to do'

It's a pain in the ass trying to find musos that are into the same stuff as you at the best of times, but inactive members that don't log in get on everybody's nerves, you try to contact them and obviously no response-they should be removed if they are not using the site...perhaps save their usernames for them if they decide to come back and then reinstate their account, afterall some people go off the boil for months on end sometimes, or go travelling...

Ok we will be deciding on the way old profiles are handled on the search in the next minor update. The voting will close early next week, so keep em coming for now.

I vote for deletion. If someone comes back after a year of inactivity, they can re-sign to the site can't they? It might be a good idea to put in the terms and conditions of service that 365 days of inactivity will render the profile for deletion.
