A Fat Biography

Early 2005 - Drum'n'bass lacked live acts, pop sensibility and catchy melodies; elements which were present in early nighties music.

Fat Habit was born, out of necessity.

Fat Habit is the creation of High Wycombe based musician Mark Child; producer, songwriter and keyboard player. Synthetic melodic hooks, driving bass, breakbeats and touches of dark jazz. Think The Prodigy mixed with Red Snapper; liquid drum 'n' bass with an electro edge for the new generation- you have the Fat Habit sound.

Mark has worked with several artists to ensure that Fat Habit is always fresh and innovative. Limited release debut album, Ridge Sessions (to download from iTunes click here) along with the Boogie Man EP, featured guest vocalist Natalie Long. From the 'super hook' of Moving On to the 'ripping up the floor' Punk 'n' Bass, Ridge Sessions takes the listener on a journey unlike no other.

Plans are currently underway for a number of gigs around the UK and production of a live DVD. In addition, the eagerly anticipated follow-up album, 'Freedom Was Yesterday', will be released early 2008. Keep checking the website and myspace for details.

“The grand finale saw crowds of moving people gather protectively around the bandstand. Their encore left a superb last impression. Dance music inspired.”

“It's far superior to the trashy Europop and cheesy vocal dance that fills the charts and the dancefloors on a weekly basis”

Past gigs include: The Rhythm Factory, Concorde2 Brighton, Blueprint Club Nottingham, Chicago Rock Café Maidenhead, Chiltern University Student Union, Chesham Arts Festival, Faceparty.com, Capital Radio Help a London Child, Tunbridge Wells Forum, Southampton University, Reading University, Unit3, The White Horse, Phatz Bar Maidenhead.
