My name's Dan, I turned 25 at the very end of 2007, and I live in the Southend/Benfleet/Basildon kind of area.

I have a relative who was a great drummer and the love of all things rhythmic kind of rubbed off at a young age, I guess. At the age of 14, I took major interest in learning how to drum and took a few basic lessons. I left it alone for a while as college interviened, but music was, and is, never far from mind, and for my 18th I received my drum kit.

After jamming with friends and never getting anywhere with it, I thought it was going to be a waste, but I decided to start again and take professional instruction. Not long after that decision, I got together with some new mates and got a fair amount off great material (which we actually gigged with), but unfortunately our singer had to leave and the band proceeded to run out of steam for various reasons.

One of those reasons was most certainly not a lack of drive to play from myself, however, so I put together a second band, in which I sing.

This does of course leave me with what I have been told, and after seeing and hearing numerous drummers and receiving many comments, now actually truly believe is an honest, true talent for playing drums to a pretty high standard! I continue to take instruction, as well.

I take major influence from the heavy metal drummers, Dave McClain (Machine Head), Thomas Hakke (Meshuggah), the genius that is Buddy Rich (best jazz player ever) and the hard/prog rock drummers, John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Neil Peart (RUSH) and my all time favourite, Danny Carey (TOOL) Yes, I am into my hard and progressive rock drumming, and love exploring strange rhythms, outside of 4/4, and making them work with the rest of a band! I consider myself to have good technique and an unbreakable determination to get something right!....
