I never was Van Halen, but I can cover most things in most styles. Anyhow here’s some schpiel about me:---

My parents met when they both worked at the legendary Selmers music store in the 60’s. However they managed to keep me safely away from music until I started tinkering with guitar when I was 15. I took things a bit more seriously in my early-twenties when I undertook a 2 year BTec National Diploma in contemporary music at Harlow College. During this time I held the guitar seat in the college' Jazz orchestra, benefiting enormously from the tutor in charge, a pro guitarist who worked in west-end shows.

Following college I was in a semi-pro 8-piece London function band for 12 years, until the band split a couple of years ago. But back in the day, we were fortunate enough to play all manner of gigs from Kensington Barracks and The Cafe Royal, through to a dodgy Irish wedding in a pub in Kilburn where 2 blokes in camos and balaclavas passed through the guests for funds!!

My gear includes Fender and Gibson electric guitars, and a wildly versatile Line 6 acoustic. My preferred set-up is valve-powered and rack-mounted through Marshall speakers, but where a smaller “stage foot-print” is required, my gear can deliver good tone direct to the desk. With my own SM58, stand and leads I’m also an experienced backing vocalist. In addition to my guitar kit I also own a reasonable PA, with Peavey Pro 15 tops and subs; and Behringer powered mixer.

To give you an idea of where my playing is centred - I would decribe Steve Cropper as the "grandaddy", Nile Rogers as THE Daddy, and Joe Perry as "the naughty uncle". But my tastes are far more diverse, and comtemporary than most people in their latter thirties.
