It was summer 2005 when I left my country for the first time, all because a simple phone call. I moved from Osilo, a tiny Italian village of 3000 souls to the 520,700 souls of Sheffield, England. At the age of 19 I left my family, all my friends, all my projects, to get into a new experience and learn a different culture. And guess what I found? Well, I found so many interesting things, like crazy parties, grey n’ rainy sky (24hours), tea time, puddings, Halloween etc. Fascinated by all around me I started to go out more often and make some new friends. Then I suddenly discovered something called open mic nights(wow!). It was extraordinary how people were having such an easy opportunity to show themselves off to such an interested audience. And then I decided to jump on it, buying a very cheap guitar and playing a couple of tunes I knew at the time. It was a bit embarrassing at the beginning, because I didn’t know how to play guitar really, but eventually it did work(no problem), and in that winter of 2005 I met for the first time one of the most important people I have ever met in my life. It was Mr Graham Charles New. He is one of the best songwriters ever and I fell in love with his music so much that I decided to start a new band with him. He called it Sikora, and that was the beginning of one of the most beautiful adventures that has happened to me since a very long time. But sadly I had to leave Sikora, so now I am seeking a new career somewhere in this world where all my dreams will come true. I have been singing, singing and singing for nine years...so Yes I would like to become a professional singer or something similar one day.

Regional Final, Live & Unsigned - Sheffield
Andrea Oggiano will be competing amongst other talented hopefuls at the regional final show held at Montgomery Theater Sheffield, on the 12th of April, 6.15pm for a place in the National Grand final. At this moment, he is one impressive performance away from making it to the grand national final, taking place in London, in a bid to be crowned the UK’s best ‘Live and Unsigned’ under 18 act of 2008. Live and Unsigned is a national music competition for unsigned bands and singers to compete live. It stands as the biggest music talent search in the UK outside a certain ITV show. The difference with Live and Unsigned is that the acts taking part are encouraged to do their own thing; be individual, original, perform their own genre and style Live. Chris Grayston, Events Director of Live & Unsigned explains “This cannot be compared to any other talent searches as the acts talent is the show. We are interested in discovering and exposing talent at its best; live! It is as simple as we say Get Live, get signed.” If Andrea Oggiano continues with his success, he could be crowned the UK's best over 18 Live and Unsigned act in front of a capacity crowd at Fairfield Halls, London on the 28th of June, including many professionals from within the music industry. The grand final will attract radio and press attention and with the 2007 competition boasting ITV coverage, 2008 plans to see Sky Television film the regional and grand final, programmed to be broadcast with a weekly peak time show.
